This Cookie Policy explains how Phantom Pest Control uses cookies and similar technologies on phantompestcontrol.com: what each one does, who sets it, how long it stays on your device and how you can control it. For how we collect and use personal information, please read our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Websites also use similar technologies, such as local storage, to remember information between pages and visits. Some are set by us. Others are set by services we use, such as Google and Meta.

Cookies we use

  • _ga (Google Analytics): gives your browser a random ID so we can count visits and see which pages people use. Stays up to 2 years.
  • _ga_TBDVFNWDP1 (Google Analytics): keeps track of your current visit for the same reports. Stays up to 2 years.
  • _fbp (Meta, for Facebook and Instagram): helps us measure our Facebook and Instagram ads and can be used to show our ads to people who have visited our website. Stays 90 days.
  • _wpfuuid (WPForms, our estimate and contact forms): gives your browser a random ID so that, if you send us a form, we can see which pages you viewed first. Stays up to 11 years.

These are the longest times. Browsers can delete cookies sooner: Chrome, for example, keeps no cookie longer than 400 days, and Safari often removes cookies set by scripts after 7 days.

Other information stored in your browser

Some tools save information in your browser’s local storage instead of a cookie. It stays there until you clear your browsing data.

  • _wpfuj (WPForms): lists the pages you view on our website. If you send us a form, the list is sent with it so we can see which pages helped you. If you never send a form, it is not sent to us.
  • lastExternalReferrer and lastExternalReferrerTime (Meta Pixel): remember which website sent you to us, and when, for measuring our ads.
  • elementor (Elementor, our website builder): remembers display settings, such as pop-ups you have already seen. A copy kept for the current visit is cleared when you close the tab.

Services that may set their own cookies

Some pages include content from other companies. These services follow their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies when their content loads:

Why we use them

  • To improve our website: Google Analytics shows us how many people visit, which pages they read and how they found us.
  • To measure our advertising: the Meta Pixel tells us whether our Facebook and Instagram ads lead to visits and enquiries.
  • To handle your enquiries: WPForms records which pages you viewed before you sent us a form.
  • To keep our forms safe: reCAPTCHA and Turnstile help us block spam.

Your choices

  • Your browser: you can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser’s settings. Our website still works if you do, though our forms may record less information.
  • Google Analytics: install Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
  • Meta ads: change how ads are shown to you in Ad Preferences, in your Facebook or Instagram settings.
  • Interest-based ads: opt out at YourAdChoices.ca, run by the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when the tools on our website change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
